Joseph A. Brown - Senior Vice President at Bank of America’s Community Development Bank Mr. Brown is Senior Vice President at Bank of America’s Community Development Bank and manages a team of professionals that focus on real estate and tax advantaged investments. The primary tax advantaged investment is through the historic preservation tax credit and his group averages $100 million in closed investments annually. His previous responsibilities have included managing Low-Income Housing Tax Credit investments and direct development activities through the Bank’s Community Development Corporation. Since joining Bank of America in 1994, Mr. Brown has been involved in the acquisition, redevelopment and management of over 3,500 units, representing more than $150 million. These include properties in Georgia, Tennessee and Florida. Prior to joining Bank of America, Mr. Brown spent 10 years as a partner in a Los Angeles based real estate consulting firm that specialized in planning, land use entitlements, financial analysis and public/private deal structuring. Mr. Brown’s clients included public agencies, non-profit organizations, financial institutions, private developers and property owners. He managed and developed projects that consisted of residential, office, retail and mixed-use developments. Mr. Brown holds a Bachelor of Science in Urban Planning from Bradley University and has lectured at various universities, institutes and conferences.
Aaron A. Sampson, Jr. - Executive Director of the Atlanta Hospital Hospitality House Aaron A. Sampson, Jr. serves as the Executive Director of the Atlanta Hospital Hospitality House. The Hospitality House is a fully independent non-profit organization whose mission is to serve as a “home away from home” to outpatients, and relatives of patients, who live outside of the metropolitan area but are receiving medical care at an area hospital. Before joining the Hospitality House, Mr. Sampson served as the founding Executive Director of The National Football League’s Youth Education Town of Atlanta. NFL/YET is a youth enrichment program serving young people and their families in the Summerhill neighborhood. Prior to managing NFL/YET he was employed by Emory University. Mr. Sampson has a strong commitment to his community and is an active volunteer with various community service organizations. For six years, he was a member of the Board of Directors for Hands On Atlanta; served on the Executive Committee and the Vice President in 1998 & 1999. Mr. Sampson is also on the Board of Directors for Girls Inc., The Artimas Society of The Fernbank Museum, and is a member of the Fulton County Education Foundation. Mr. Sampson is active with G-CAPP, G-PIE, youth mentoring programs, and an active member with the Atlanta Kiwanis Club of Metro Atlanta. In 1999, he was selected as one of ten Outstanding Atlantans for his commitment to improving the lives of those who are less fortunate, and improving society as a whole. Mr. Sampson graduated from The Ohio State University with undergraduate degrees in Political Science and Journalism. He received his Masters Degree from The University of Vermont in Public Administration, with an emphasis in non-profit organizations.
Barren L. Watson, CPA – Managing Partner of Watson-Bowden Certified Public Accountants Mr. Watson graduated with high honors from Hampton University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. Prior to starting Watson-Bowden, he served as a senior accounting manager with a Atlanta base accounting firm and a big five accounting firm. He has industry expertise in the areas of construction, manufacturing, wholesale, retail distribution and not for profit organizations. Mr. Watson advises and consults with clients and corporations pertaining to financial reporting, strategic planning and income tax compliance for corporations and individuals. He serves on the Board of the Georgia Cancer Foundation, Accomack County Incentive for Minority Scholarship Foundation, Accomack County Board of Equalization, Virginia Eastern Shore Economic and Housing Corporation, and Guide Right Achieves College Excellence. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants, and Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants.
